Online delivery segment across the Indian sub-continent is gaining grounds lately given the outbreak of second wave of coronavirus in the country. This has led various prominent retailer brands to shift from brick and mortar stores to online delivery service. One of these being Big Bazaar.
Well-renowned retail chain by Future Group, Big Bazaar is now set to compete with leading e-retailers in ‘two-hour express home delivery service’ vertical including Amazon, BigBasket, and others. Reportedly, it is now aiming to double the sales contribution from online business within a month’s time.
As per company officials, Big Bazaar has announced ‘click-to-home’ online shopping festival, the ‘Home Delivery Sale’ and is now extending the 2-hour home delivery service, started last month to all stores.
Moreover, speculations have it that the 2-hour home delivery service has got an encouraging response from consumers amidst the prolific surge in COVID-19 cases and travel restriction imposed by various state governments to break the chain of the infection.
Importantly, the retail chain is already receiving around 40% of its sales order online in certain markets.
Speaking on the latest accomplishment, Pawan Sharda, Future Group CMO, Digital, Ecommerce and marketing, cited that home delivery service has potentially picked pace in India. In fact, in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, about 10 to 15% business is coming from home delivery, which is only expanding.
Pawan added that the retail chain boasts of a decent presence across India, where in certain cities, the brand has over 30 to 40% orders coming through online.
Mr. Sharda also mentioned that Future Group is looking forward to doubling its online business in a month, with its mission of surpassing one lakh orders daily.
For the uninitiated, Big Bazaar, under its first online shopping festival, would offer free home delivery, cashback and offers on different products. Essentially, the brand has now also extended its two-hour delivery service to about 150 cities in the country.
